George Howard Croft's Obituary
Age 83, of Leoni Township and also of Florida, passed away October 25, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Ann Arbor. He is survived by two daughters, K. Renee Mitchell and Georgine (James) Byrd, step-son, Donald Trefry, five grandchildren, Crystal (Andrew) Nastally, Cassandra (Shaun Lauth), Courtney Mitchell, Shiloh Byrd and SPC Corey Byrd (US Army), great-grandchildren, Rodney Lavacs, Camaren Nastally, Austin Nastally and Chloe Johnston, brother, Mark Croft and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Norma (maiden-Smith) Croft and fourteen siblings. He was born in Bartow, Florida February 1, 1931. George retired after a career as a truck driver/mechanic, enjoyed fishing and boating, and served the nation in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member several veterans organizations and the Michigan Center Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #3634. Mr. Croft has been cremated. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at the American Legion Rose City Post #324, 1190 Falahee Road, on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:30 pm with Military Honors by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Memorial Services and columbarium placement will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, 2:30 pm at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida. The Dade City VFW #4283 Honor Guard will render the Military Honors.
