George Bertram Praay's Obituary
George Bertram (Bert) Praay, 92, of Brooklyn, MI, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Bert’s family and friends will gather for a private family service at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. Pastor Drew Woods will officiate. Bert and Delore’s cremated remains will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
He was born on July 23, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan, to George and Elizabeth (Wager) Praay. Bert married the love of his life, Delores Hill, in 1952, and they enjoyed many years together until her passing. Bert will be remembered as a carpenter by trade, retired plumber for the Jackson prison and a member of the American Legion, Brooklyn Michigan Post 315. He was a proud veteran serving his country in the United States Navy from July 1949 until April 1953, serving during the Korean Conflict. Burt loved his church, Cement City Baptist, music and playing the guitar, woodworking and fishing. In his youth, he also enjoyed boxing and racing cars.
Bert will be missed by his children, Ronald Praay and Dennis Trefry; brothers, Terry Praay Sr. and Randy Praay and sister Rena (Don) Emerson; grandchild, Jeremy Praay; great grandchild, Bailee Praay; nieces, Rena Johnson and Char Vinton and nephews, Terry Praay, Ray Praay and Shane Praay. He is preceded in death by his wife, Delores, daughter, Kathy Leigh, brother, Ray Praay and sister, Linda Praay.
