George Edward Smith's Obituary
George Edward Smith, 78, passed away June 24, 2024. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He was born on March 8, 1946, in Jackson, Michigan to Bernard and Gladys (Retzloff) Smith. George married the love of his life, Patricia Marie, on June 8, 1963, in Jackson, Michigan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. George’s family was everything to him, and cherished spending time with them. He loved to travel to Florida to visit his parents and to Petoskey and Eaton Rapids. Impromptu Sunday drives with the family was also one of his favorite pastimes. George was always busy doing yardwork, reading, golfing, studying and learning history. He was a friend to all, and no one was a stranger.
George will be missed by his wife, Patricia; his daughters, Murlene (Will) Morris and April (James) Leffew; siblings, Vicky (Tom) Ackley, Pamela Reed and Ron (Joan) Smith; grandchildren Natasha (Jeff) Stearns, Jeffrey (Erica) Leffew, Alexander (Grace) Morris, Brandon Morris, Tyler Stearns, Micah Hale, Chole Stearns, Landin Leffew, Elijah Leffew, Frankie Leffew, Neveah Morris, Braylon Morris, George “Jordy” Morris, Liliana Morris and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Gladys Smith; siblings; Ginger Tamblyn, Sharlene Arras, Bonnie Nitsos.
