George E. Steers' Obituary
Age 83, of Jackson, passed away at his home under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Caring Hospice on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Gerry; six children, Bill Dunham, Sandra (Bob) Herrst, Chuck Steers, Tammy Quillan (Bob Kothe), George Thomas (Salina) Steers and Lori (Trent) Parker; 20 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Dunham and two sisters. George was an Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He worked at the University of Michigan, Kelsey-Hayes, Clark Equipment and then retired from the Department of Natural Resources. George was an active, dedicated member of the Clarklake Lions Club where he was Past President and took on many projects on the Club and District level. He enjoyed MSU Sports, NASCAR, playing cards, tinkering in the yard, mowing lawn, carpentry and most especially fishing. A remembrance luncheon and open house will be held at the Clarklake Community Church, 9224 Hyde Road, Clarklake, MI 49234 on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from noon to 4 pm with a casual service at 2 pm. For those who wish, contributions in George's memory to the Cascades Humane Society would be appreciated.
