Gerald "Jerry" Charles Ambs Sr.'s Obituary
Age 80, of Michigan Center, passed away at Henry Ford Allegiance Friday, August 11, 2017. He is survived by his beloved of 47 years, Judy A. Barnes, three children, Scott (Kim) Ambs, Junior Ambs and Joy (James) Copas, step-daughters, Kathy Bellew and Laurie Barnes, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother, Jim Ambs, sister-in-law, Cathy Ambs, several nieces and nephews and his canine companion, Princess Polly. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin "Mike" Ambs, mother Ruth (Warner) Signor, step-father, Elmer Signor and brother Tom Ambs. He was a graduate of Michigan Center High School, owned and operated Jerry's Marathon at Fifth and Broad Street in Michigan Center for many years and delivered fuel oil for Marathon after closing the station. He then worked for Jackson County Fleet Maintenance for ten years and also was a mechanic at Phelp's and Sentry Service. He served as a Trustee on the Leoni Township Board and for many years delivered Meals on Wheels. Services will be held at St. Aidan's Church, 361 East Grove, Michigan Center, Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at noon with Rev. Larry Rubingh officiating. Interment Leoni Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Cascades Humane Society.
