Gerald "Jerry" Richard Horsch's Obituary
Jerry passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the age of 82. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Margie; children, Teri (Steve) Wolvin, Lori (Richard) Jennings, and Tim (Arica) Horsch; grandchildren, Greg (Tarin) Wolvin, Jamie Wolvin, Brianna Wolvin, and Taelar Horsch; great-grandchildren, Natahlee, Makynzee and Carsen Nelson, Lincoln, Austin and Merrick Wolvin; sister, Judy (Bill) Ives; sisters-in-law, Connie Neese and Barb Harsch; brothers-in-law, Mickey, Mark and Chris Cavender. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Millicent, and his siblings, Bonnie Hilder, Doug Harsch, Linda Delaet and Jane Lantis. Jerry's family would also like to acknowledge Jenn Cochrane for the wonderful care given to him.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962, most of which he and Margie spent in Germany where he was stationed. Jerry was a man of many talents. After his time in the service, he worked various jobs, including being a well-respected carpet and tile layer. That changed when he met a friend who was getting started in the cable TV industry. He found his niche here which led him into a 20 year career in this field. He eventually started Home Theater Systems which he ran until he retired in 1988.
Jerry was a member of the Lions Club since 1974 where he served as District Zone Chair and President of the Michigan Center Lions Club, as well as chaired the Carp Carnival for 10 years. Later he transferred to Jackson Eyeopeners Lions Club to join his wife who was a member.
He and Margie are members of Our Lady of Fatima Church and he served with the Knights of Columbus. For many years, he enjoyed working and socializing at the fish fry dinners.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and loved family events. His favorite things were hunting and fishing with his many friends and family over the years. He also had a talent for woodworking and refurbishing furniture.
Cremation has taken place and a time of visitation will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Monday, June 14, 2021 from 6-8pm. A memorial service to celebrate a life well-lived will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11am with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Military honors will be presented by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team.
