Gerald C. Mayo's Obituary
Gerald Charles Mayo, age 80 of Baraga, MI passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Bayside Village in L'Anse, MI. He was born December 1, 1933 in Baraga, MI son to Richard and Elma (Koskinen) Mayo. Gerald graduated from Baraga High School and then attended college for one year prior to going into the US Army in 1953. He resided in Michigan Center, MI where he married Dolores Inez Carlson in 1975. Gerald worked as a permit agent for MDOT in Jackson, MI for 32 years. In 2012 he moved back to Baraga. He was an avid sports fan and participant. Gerald was a member of the KBIC and Ojibwa Seniors. Surviving are his son, Thomas Mayo of Iron River, MI; daughter, Susan (Rick)Vieira of Connecticut; brothers, Richard Mayo of Texas, James (Beverly) Mayo of Baraga, John (Judy) Mayo of Greenland, Pat (Judy) Mayo of Baraga, Paul (Karen) Mayo of Baraga; sister, Dianne Sirard of Baraga; grandchildren, Taylor, Trevor, Tanner, and Emma. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, and sister Marie Mayo. There will be a memorial service on Friday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse, Michigan. A luncheon and fellowship will follow in the Sharing Room at Jacobson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
