Gerald Arthur Ostrander, Jr.'s Obituary
Age 84, of Vandercook Lake, passed away at his home June 13, 2019 under the loving care of his family and Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice. He is survived by his wife, Lenora, two children; Debi (Jim) L'Hullier of Jackson and Gary (Carol) Ostrander of Wisconsin, three grandchildren; Jason (Heather) Eagen, Josh (Darcy) Eagen and Jodie (Randy) Eagen , six great-grandchildren; Jordan (Chelsea), Larissa, Jayce, Jagger, Kaelyn, Landon, Lily, one great-great granddaughter; Paisley. step-daughter; Michelle (Paul) Little, step-grandchildren; Heather Lammon and Sasha (Chris) Holloway, seven step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merle, brothers; Ernie and Jack and his parents; Gerald and Florence (maiden-Jenkins) Ostrander Sr. Gerald was born in Jackson, spent his childhood in Lansing, then coming back to graduate from St. John's High School Class of 1951. He joined the US Air Force and was trained in the Russian Language, working as a radio operator in Germany and translating Russian radio messages. When transferred to Ediburgh , Scotland on the first night there he met his late wife Merle and they were married in 1956. After the service, Jerry returned to Jackson, worked at Kelsey Hayes and completing his Associates Degree at Jackson Community College. He started his own business, Die Design Company in 1968 and then in 1975 bought into what became LuPaul Industries, where he was a partner for over 25 years, including serving as company CEO. He belonged to the Jackson Grotto Club, Michigan Center Eagles Aerie #3634, American Legion Rose City Post, the Jackson Moose Lodge and St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish. A gathering of Remembrance and Fellowship will be held at his favorite bar, the Shamrock (1628 E. Michigan Avenue, Jackson) on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 1 pm to 5 pm. Contributions in his memory are directed to the St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.
