Gerald Lee Polashak's Obituary
Age 73, of Leoni Township, passed away at his home Sunday, September 27, 2015 under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Caring Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy A. (maiden-Smith) Polashak, two sons, Carl and Stephen Polashak, his mother, Elsie E. (maiden-Stubelt) Polashak, seven grandchildren, Cody Stacie, Christopher, Daniel, Adrienne, Amber and Austin, three great-grandchildren, Amira, Mariah and Makala, one sister, Karen (Larry) Young, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Polashak served the nation in the US Air Force, was a retiree of Clark Equipment and the University of Michigan and belonged to the Michigan Center Lions Club. He and his sons enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, camping, dune buggies and old classic cars. He was a gifted woodworker, an avid NASCAR and sports fan and a loving and dedicated husband and father. Mr. Polashak has been cremated. A Memorial Service celebrating his legacy will be held at the funeral home Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11 am. The Lions Club will give their honors at that time followed immediately by the service with Father Tim MacDonald officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. He will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date. Contributions in his memory are directed to Our Lady of Fatima Parish or the Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
