Gerald William Smith's Obituary
Age 80, of Napoleon, formerly of Grass Lake, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020 under the loving care of the staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. Bill served in the U.S. Army from Nov 1959 to Nov 1962; he was proud to serve his country. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Smith; parents and siblings. He is survived by his son, William (Maxine) Smith of Allendale; daughters, Susan (Bryan) Fish of Michigan Center and Heather (Michael) Horsley of Napoleon; grandsons, Nicholas, Jeffery and David Smith and Jeremiah Horsley; granddaughter, Beverly (Mitch) Murphy and great-granddaughter, Claire Murphy. Bill was a supervisor at Clark Equipment from 1959 to 1981, a Tech Tire salesman and a farmer. He loved watching sprint cars, fishing, and making bullets, although farming was his passion. Bill will be interred at Hillcrest Memorial Park at private services. Military honors will be provided by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team.
