Geraldine Jeannette Sitarz's Obituary
Geraldine “Gerry” Sitarz, 91, passed away on September 5, 2023. A private family service for Gerry will be held. Burial will take place at St. Hedwig’s in Detroit, Michigan.
Gerry was born on March 12, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Helen (Borowski) Kozlowski. Gerry married the love of her life, Richard Sitarz, Sr. in 1950 in Detroit, Michigan. They were married until his passing in 2005. She and her husband ran Shawnee Shores Construction in Brooklyn for many years. After retirement, Gerry loved to knit hats and scarves for infants and children. She donated them to hospitals, churches and police departments to share with any infant or child in need. She also loved to cook, especially Polish food. She was a collector of antiques and enjoyed watching football, hockey and NASCAR in her spare time. Gerry enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren, Avery and Braely Flanders.
Gerry will be missed by her son, Rick (Cathy) Sitarz; a brother, Robert (Donna) Kozlowski; a sister-in-law, Christine Kozlowski; grandchildren, Michael Sitarz, Courtney (Jason Flanders) Sitarz, James Sitarz, Victoria Seffernick, Daniel Sitarz; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard, Sr.; sons Cary, Mark and Tim Sitarz; daughter-in-law, Pam Sitarz; brothers, Stanley Kozlowkski and Ernie Kozlowski; and a sister, Lorraine Serrault.
