Geraldine Lynn Swihart's Obituary
Geraldine Lynn Swihart, 72, of Jackson passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. Geri’s family and friends will gather from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, MI. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Dr. David Weber will serve as officiant.
She was born on November 24, 1951 in Fort Worth, Texas to Merlin Day and Patricia (Russell) Shrove. She will be remembered as a bright, vibrant woman that would go above and beyond for her family and friends. Geri is a graduate of El Cajon High School in California and received her Associates Degree in Psychology from Santa Monica University in California. She enjoyed camping in her early years with her children in Grayling, Michigan. Geri was also an avid gardener and loved tending to her flowers. She attended the Brooklyn Presbyterian Church and was on the Bunco League and enjoyed crafting with the church members. Glitter was a big part of her life, whether it was in cards she sent to family members, in her car or anywhere she could put it. Above all she loved cooking for her family, especially holiday occasions. Geri enjoyed her time with family, especially her daily adventures with Briceson. She will greatly be missed by her cat, Tiger and dog, Max and everyone else who knew and loved her.
Geri is survived by her son’s, Douglas (Becki) Matiska and Justin (Diane) Matiska; siblings, Cynthia Noppe, Neecie (Scott) Johnson, Doris Schnath and Jim (Sherry) Shrove; grandchildren Robert Matiska and Amanda (Justin) Robinson; two great grandsons, Briceson and Alexander Robinson; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Scott Swihart.
