Gloria Jean Townsend's Obituary
Gloria Jean Townsend, 80, of Clinton passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at Promedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital, Adrian Mi. Gloria’s family and friends will gather Monday July 10, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 pm at Einder Funeral Homes Manchester Chapel with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:00 am following visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00am at Einder Funeral Homes-Manchester Chapel.
Gloria was born on December 4, 1942, in Dehli, Michigan to George William and Effie Christine (Chapman) Cobb. She was the third of five children. She will be remembered for her warm smile and glorious hugs. Gloria was everyone’s honorary “mom”. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1961. Gloria then married Harold L.Townsend and they had four wonderful daughters together. She was employed at Gelman/Pall Industries and retired after 20 years of service. Gloria loved baking, canning tomatoes, Tweety Bird and riding motorcycles. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and enjoyed their lunches. Gloria also ran the concession stand for Clinton little league. She made Christmas cookies for family, friends and local businesses. Gloria enjoyed her annual trips to Arizona and Aruba to spend time with family. She cherished her family above all else, especially her grandchildren and she was a fierce protector of them all. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Gloria is survived by her children, Deb (Wayne) McCallum, Becky Townsend, Trisha (Chris) Hull and Tonya (Joe) Kaufman; siblings, Gale (Shirley) Cobb and Loreen McCalla; Sisters-in-law, Eileen Ball and Ruth Burch, grandchildren Tim, Sheresa, Shaun, Kiyonna, Greg, Geoff, Derick, Aaron, Cheyenne, Dakota and Isaiah; 21 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by Harold L. Townsend, her parents; George and Effie Cobb, brothers, Gerald and Willis Cobb, great grandson, Jonathan Kaufman and in-laws, Harold P and Rita Townsend.
