Hazel Marie Wootten's Obituary
Age 77, of Michigan Center, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, MI. As she enters heaven, she will be joyfully welcomed by those that have preceded her, Father, George Bristow, Mother, Iva Bell Wilson Bristow Pool, (Stepfather Milton Pool), Former Husband Frank Wootten, Brother Ron Bristow, Sister and Brother in law Delores (Bristow) and Dick Boody, Joanna (Bristow) Bradley, Irene (Bristow) McMeekin, Diana (Pool) England, and special brother in law Mel Stone, and her extraordinary and loving companion, Ron VanAkin. Hazel was born in Jackson June 29, 1942 to George and Iva Belle (Wilson) Bristow. She spent the early years working at various grocery stores until she and Frank became the proprietors of the Country Express Lounge, there they could each practice their special gifts, Frank's love of singing and country music, and Hazel's unending hospitality. Her gift of hospitality was so powerful that after her retirement she wanted to keep meeting new and old friends, so she became a greeter at Meijer. After her 2nd retirement she became very interested in her family's ancestry and together with members of her extended family was able to add many historical pictures and facts that will now not be forgotten by the generations to follow. With her loving companion Ron, she spent winters enjoying the warmth of Florida and summers on the lake with her family, enjoying camping and golfing with her special friends and family. More than anything Hazel loved her family. Leaving behind to miss her loving smile and mourn her passing are her three sons, David (Caron) Wootten, Daniel Wootten and Darren (Caryn) Wootten, Grandchildren Andrea Hogle, Jacob, Ryan and Annelise Wootten, Justin, Austin and Zachary McConeghy and 3 great grandchildren, Antoinette, David and Carter. Sisters Elaine Stone and Marlene (Kenny) Stewart and Brother Duane (Karon) Pool, Sister in laws Karin Eckert and Karen Bristow, Brother in Law Roy England, Brother and Sister in law Dallas and Bonnie (Wootten) Ries, Pam Liski, Larry, mike and Charles Glisson, Nancy DeWitt, Wendy Glisson O'Dell, Debbie Wootten Ramp and Sandy Wootten Smith and a great many nieces and nephews. According to her wishes a cremation has taken place. A service celebrating her life will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home, 820 5th St., Michigan Center on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2pm with Rev. Larry Rubingh officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service. A reception for further fellowship and refreshment will follow immediately after the service at the Michigan Center Masonic Temple, 355 Napoleon Road. The family would like to thank the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice and Hospice Home for the loving care they provided.
