Helen Gertrude Popkey's Obituary
Helen Gertrude Popkey, 91, of Manchester passed away August 11, 2022 at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Helen’s family and friends will gather Tuesday, August 16, 2022, 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM until time of service at Eineder Funeral Homes – Manchester Chapel. Burial to follow immediately after service at Norvell Cemetery. Reverend David Bucholtz will serve as celebrant.
She was born on April 12, 1931, in Sharon Township to William and Viola (Broom) Bross Sr. Helen married the love of her life, Robert Popkey, on October 14, 1950 in Manchester. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Helen was known around town as “the pretzel lady”. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and going to garage sales. She also enjoyed her morning trips for coffee with her friends. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1954, serving as past president and involved in community service. Helen loved spending time with her family here and travelling to Oregon to visit her daughter, Janet.
Helen will be missed by her children, Steve (Ann) Popkey, Judy (Rodney) Hoeft, Daniel (Deborrah) Popkey and Janet (Clarence) Pelroy; sisters-in-law Rachel Bross and Beverly Bross; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way; many nieces and nephews and good friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, brothers William Bross Jr. and Harold Bross, son Tom, and grandson Kain Popkey.
