Helena Margaret Novack's Obituary
Helena Margaret Novack, 89, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away on February 18, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Helena’s family and friends will gather Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. David Weber will officiate.
She was born on April 17, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, to Louie and Helena (Pogani) Inklovich. Helena grew up on a farm in Monroe, MI, where she graduated high school. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education. After several years of teaching, Helena obtained her Master’s Degree in Education at the age of 60, to continue with her passion of teaching. She began her teaching career in the Monroe Public Schools. After many years, Helena moved to Las Vegas, where she continued with her teaching career, teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, and where she retired after years of dedication. Helena even substitute taught, when necessary. She was a terrific mother, making her family first priority. Helena, also, had a strong relationship with her friends. She enjoyed going to Deer Run for her monthly Bunco Ladies get together. Helena was an avid reader and enjoyed working with ceramics in her younger years. She was strong in her faith and her heritage. Helena spoke Hungarian. In later years, she played games for hours on her iPad. She will be remembered for her dedication to education and to her family. She will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helena is survived by her children, Daniel (Sharron) Hotchkiss of Michigan, and Amanda Miller of Tennessee; her sister, Betty Griffith; her grandchildren, Danyelle Hotchkiss – Pizzo (Jackson Pizzo) and Garrit Hotchkiss; her best friends, Sue Holliger, who she met at the Brooklyn Presbyterian church years ago, and Carol Kamprath, who she met when they both lived in Ida, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Helena.
