Helga Annemarie Humphrey's Obituary
Age 82, of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at her home with her daughters at her bedside and under the care of the staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
She was born and raised in Bremerhaven, Germany, the daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm and Siegrid (Hart) Schrader. Helga worked for the U.S. Army in Germany where she met her former husband, Paul "Skip" Humphrey and they moved to Jackson in 1974. She retired from Comerica Bank after more than 22 years of service as a teller. For many years, she enjoyed working as a volunteer at Foote Hospital. In her youth, she traveled to many places in Europe and loved traveling throughout the United States and Canada after moving to Michigan.
Helga is survived by her beloved family; her two daughters, Melanie Humphrey (Michael) and Jessica (Andy) Johnson; five grandchildren, Savannah, Connor, Carter, Danielle and Wyatt; sister-in-law, Beate Schreck of Germany; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Friedrich Schrader; mother, Siegrid Schreck; sister, Hannelore Weyel and brother, Hans-Dieter Schreck, all from Germany.
Cremation has taken place and a visitation will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeremy Toyer from Village Hope Church officiating.
