Hollace "Holly" Taylor's Obituary
Hollace L. Taylor (Holly) died peacefully on April 26, 2024, at the age of 79 at the Henry Ford Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan. Holly was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 22, 1944, to Harold (Jack) and Susan (Ashenfelter) Taylor.
After completing high school and attending business college in Toledo, Holly moved to Washington DC to work for the CIA. She was working there when President Kennedy was assassinated. When she returned to Toledo she worked in the legal department for Owens Illinois. From there she went to work for the Toledo Museum of Art for 20 years. While she was the director of marketing for the museum she came up with many creative and forward-looking activities to encourage people to visit the museum. The director of the museum called her one of the wittiest and most consistently creative minds ever. In 2006 the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art used these words to describe Holly: “Ms. Taylor is one of the most widely respected museum professionals in the world.” Upon retirement she and her Mother moved to Michigan to be closer to the family and she lived here until her passing.
Holly was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her brothers: Richard (Theresa), Martin (Christine), David (Barbara), and Rodney (Kellyn) Taylor. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephew. Holly loved them all and was always very proud of them. She is also survived by many longtime friends.
Creating quilts and pictures using calligraphy were some of her many talents. She was always on the lookout for a good tea house. Each of her animals through the years became part of her family. Holly also loved nature and creating gardens.
If desired memorial contributions are suggested to the Dahlem Environmental Center of Jackson Michigan per Holly’s request.
Holly asked her family not to remember her with sorrow but with positive memories. A private memorial will celebrate Holly’s life.
