Howard Charles Gates' Obituary
Howard Charles Gates, Age 95, passed away May 7, 2023. Howard’s family and friends will gather Friday, May 19, 2023 at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel. at 10:00 a.m for Visitation with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., where Melvin Banfield will officiate service.
He was born on August 26, 1927, to Clessie and Ruth (Murch) Gates. Howard graduated from Michigan Center High School in 1945 and was a part of the winning 1945 State Championship Basketball Team. He married the love of his life, Patricia Neil, on May 10, 1958, in Jackson, Michigan. Howard was a proud retired veteran that served his country in both World War II and the Korean War. Howard was also a retired engineer from Tenneco/Walker Manufacturing. He was a member of the Michigan Center 3 Horse Club, The Michigan Center Lion’s Club and a lifelong member of the Jackson Moose Lodge #156. In his spare time, Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. But most of all, he was a true family man.
Howard will be missed by his children, Randall Gates, Jeffrey (Paula) Gates, Gregory (Christine) Gates; grandchildren Nicole Oliver, Sabrena (Ricardo Spicer) Gates, Jeremy Gates, Elizabeth Gates, Katherine Gates, Amanda Gates, Aaron Gates, great grandchildren Rocco Oliver, Camryn Oliver, Mia Spicer, Niko Spicer, and Anna Gates along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Lee Neil, his parents, Clessie and Ruth Gates, his brother Donald Gates and sister-in-law Barbara Coffey Gates.
