Huey Gordon Swager's Obituary
Huey Gordon Swager passed away Friday, May 12, 2023. Huey’s family and friends will gather on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Calvary United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m with the service immediately following at 11:00 a.m.
He was born on January 26, 1954, in Napoleon, Michigan to Leroy and Dorothy (Smith) Swager. He was a 1973 graduate of Napoleon High School. Huey will be remembered as a caring gentleman that was very involved with preaching in many local community churches. He also was well known for officiating funeral services. Huey was an avid fisherman that not only loved to fish but had a special talent of making his own flies and teaching others to use them. Huey even worked with many local boy scout troops teaching them to use the flies and how to get the largest number of fish you could catch. It wouldn’t be unusual for Huey to come home from fishing with more than 100 fish!
Huey will be missed by his children, Eddie Swager and Lynnette Newman; his sisters, Jennie Lynn Long and Marietta Grennay and brother Michael Fouty, grandchildren; Maya Newman, Zeha Smith, Caleb Smith, Devin Smith and David Smith and his former wife of 30 years, Cheryl Swager. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Dorothy Swager, and brothers, Harold and Harvey Fouty.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be made out to the family, or Memorial contributions may be given to family for future designation. Please leave a message of comfort for Huey’s family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
