Irma Louise Weidmayer's Obituary
Irma Louise Weidmayer, 102, of Manchester passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
On January 12, 1921, when it was still “horse and buggy days”, she was born in her family’s home on Lindemann Road in Lodi Township. The first born of five children to Joseph and Emma (Stollsteimer) Lindemann and is the last of the remaining family members. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Saline on April 14, 1935. She met her future husband, Armin C Weidmayer, at a dance at the Pittsfield Grange Hall and six months later they were married on February 12, 1942 at her family home in Lodi Township. For one month after the wedding they lived with her parents while they prepared their home in Bridgewater Township. They were married 58 years until Armin’s passing in November 25, 2000.
She was an active member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester were she was involved in Women’s Fellowship, Teaching Sunday School, Bible Study Group, and together with her husband, Youth Advisors, active members of the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau and attending many Local, State and National conventions together. She also enjoyed her Extension group, Bible Study group and Manchester Senior Citizens.
In her early years she was in charge of the chickens on the family farm where she fed them, washed the eggs and delivered them too many Manchester residents. She loved to cook and in later years she did cross stitch, embroidery, and quilting. She was very talented and shared a lot of her beautiful handwork with her family. Over the past decade, she has lived a life of gratitude for her health and her family.
Irma is survived by her three sons, Milton (Janet) Weidmayer of Ann Arbor, MI, Eldean (Carolyn) Weidmayer of Clinton, MI, and Gary (Karen) Weidmayer of Manchester, MI.; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Armin; one brother, Dean Lindemann, three sisters, Laura Walker, Irene Vidmar and Gladys Lindemann and one great granddaughter, Rebekah Monroe.
Irma’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Bethel United Church of Christ. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:00 am following visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. Rev. David Bucholtz will serve as celebrant. Burial is at the Bethel United Church of Christ Cemetery, Manchester, Michigan.
