Ival Wayne ""Ike"" Hendrick's Obituary
Age 96, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Allegiance Hospice Home. He is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Jack) Fowler and Ruth Ann Romain; three grandchildren, Carrie Romain, Melissa (Simon) Morris and John ""Chip"" R. Fowler III; five great-grandchildren, Martina Harrington, Jacob Otberg, Andrew Otberg, Olivia Morris and Simon Morris; one sister, Dolores Arthur; brother, Frank (Marion) May; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Hendrick; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Maiden-Goodwin) Hendrick; brothers, Charles, Rollin, Gordon and Howard and his parents, Ival and Hazel (maiden-Christopher) Hendrick. Ike was born on Armistice Day in 1918, was a proud veteran of the US Army, World War II, serving in the South Pacific for 38 months. For a portion of his service he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii and was present at Wheeler Field during the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941, as a member of an antiaircraft gun crew. He retired from Consumers Power Company as a lineman after many years of service. Ike and his late wife Ruth were active in the Boos Center exercise group, the Jackson Moose, the American Legion Post 29, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #612. At his request cremation has taken place and services will be private. He and he and his beloved wife will be interred together at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan. Contributions in his memory are directed to Allegiance Hospice or the charity of your choice.
