Jackie "Jack" Lloyd Shell's Obituary
Jackie Lloyd Shell, 91, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Highland Assisted Living and Memory Care, Jackson. Jack’s family will hold a private gathering at a later date.
He was born on November 7, 1934, in Ecorse, Michigan, to Millard and Flossie (Evans) Shell. Jack married the love of his life, the late, Carole Stubbs, on September 18, 1954, in Brooklyn, Michigan. They had 71 wonderful years together before her passing earlier this year. He will be remembered for his commitment to public safety. Jack was a Brooklyn High School graduate, class of 1952 and attended Jackson Community College for business, and Hillsdale College for law enforcement/criminal justice. He retired from the State of Michigan Police Department as a Detective Lieutenant after 25 years of service. In retirement, he was a realtor and sold real estate in Howell. After his mother passed away, Jack and his brother Don took over ownership of Ma Shell’s Grocery and also formed D & J Excavating. Jack enjoyed hunting, golfing and maintaining his property. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jack is survived by his children, Laurinda Shell and Jack (Linda) Shell and daughter-in-law, Chere Shell; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve Scott) Rhodes, Geoffery Bagwell, Christopher (Chuck Walters) Shell, Benjamin Shell, Lindsey Rose, Lauren Shell and Leanna (Bruce) Stokes; great grandchildren, Michael, Zachery, Sarah, Eliza, Peyton, Lainy, Connor, Logan and Emma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Flossie; his wife, Carole; a son, Michael; a grandson, Brenton; and brothers, Basil, Bill, Harold, Jerry and Don.
