James Douglas Coryell's Obituary
Age 56, of Summit Township, passed away June 27, 2020 at Michigan Medicine from longstanding complications in his health worsened by the COVID virus. Besides his life partner, Dawn Pelton; he is survived by two children; son, Ronnie Coryell and daughter, Kayla Coryell; granddaughter, Diamond Sky Coryell; his father, Ronald D. Coryell and wife, Grace; his mother, Beverly (maiden name King) Dolby and husband, Brian; twin sister, Jeanna (Chester) Johnson; sisters, Rebecca (Michael) Kraus, Rhonda Coryell and Candy Calvert; brothers, Paul (Mindi) Meyer, Carl Meyer and Robert (Susan) Gilbert; aunts, Carol (Vern) Linnaberry and Darlene Roberg; uncles, Bill (Sandy) King, Mike (Deborah) King and Fred (Lou) King; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Mildred (maiden-Swager) King, paternal grandparents, Merle and Maurine (maiden-Kennell) Coryell and his uncle, Carl King. He was a 1983 graduate of Northwest High School and a die-hard U of M sports fan who enjoyed tailgating at the games. Wherever life took him, even out of state, he ran into someone he knew. He was an avid golfer and an excellent cook, always bringing the best to parties and making his living as a cook at several Jackson restaurants until his health declined. The life of the party, he was known to his circle as Jim, Jimmy, Bubba and Papa and he treasured his times with family and friends, especially Tom Barron, Wally Sheets, Jerry Cochran, Chris Pace, Greg Gibbs, and the Rocky Top's Nick Green and his family held a special place in his heart. At his request cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID situation, a celebration of Jim's Life will be planned for a later date. His loved ones wish to thank the medical and support staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Health and Michigan Medicine for their tireless and diligent care during his hospitalization.
