James A. Heckaman's Obituary
Age 74, of Norvell, passed away at his home on Thursday, November 13, 2014 under the loving care of his family, especially his niece, Lindsie and the staff of Arbor Hospice. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Arlone (Nortley) Heckaman; and brothers, Max and Robert. He is survived by his brother, Denis Heckaman of Norvell; eight nieces and nephews and their families, Robin, Wendy, Sally, Max Jr., Doug, Carlene, D.J. and Becky; his aunt, Alice Whisman; uncle, Francis Heckaman; and extended family and friends. Jim was active in Norvell Township politics; he was a former animal control officer with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and retired from Camshaft Machine; he was a Realtor who enjoyed buying and selling property for himself and he always looked for auctions where he might find a bargain on another treasure or tractor to fix-up. He was very proud of his membership on the Board at the Norvell Community Baptist Church, where his funeral service will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Noon with Pastor Ned Bernstein officiating. Interment will follow at Norvell Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Nichols-Arthur Funeral Home in Michigan Center on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm and at the church on Monday from 11 am until service time. For those who wish, contributions in Jim's memory may be given to his church.
