James Raymond Karnaz's Obituary
Age 75, of Napoleon Township, passed away at Henry Ford Allegiance Health September 28, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 27 years; Rosemary L. (LaFleur), four children; Dennis (Amanda) Karnaz, Dennette (Russell) Smith, Don (Nia) Drum and Pattie (James) Lampman, grandchildren; Tristan Stiver, Dylan Drum, Ryan Drum, Andrew Byerly, Zach Byerly, Valerie (Justin) Secor, Kelsey Grzesikowski, Lauren Grzesikowski, two great-grandsons Brennan Secor and Paul Neely (Papa's little helper), two brothers; William (Denise) and Joseph (Lise') Karnaz and his sister; Donna Hartman, several nieces and nephews and a great nephew, Zach Karnaz. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Karnaz, grandson Russell K. Smith II, his parents; Joseph and Annette C. (Leszczynski) Karnaz and his special aunt; Genevieze Nagy. Jim served the Nation in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He had a long career as a Certified Novel Computer Engineer. He was a man of strong religious and political convictions and he was actively involved and volunteered for his church. Even with years of health issues, he always had a smile and story to tell. Jim was a kind hearted and generous man who was devoted to his family and was happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service to honor his life will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church (4250 Page Avenue, Michigan Center) on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 4 pm with Pastor Ryan Prondzinski officiating. Covid protocols will be observed. Military Honors will be offered by the Jackson Vietnam Veterans Association. Private interment services at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory are directed to the family to assist with his final expenses or to the Christ Lutheran Church.
