"Mike"
Age 59, of Summit Township, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He will be dearly missed by his family, his companion of 33 years and wife of 23, Libie; daughter, Malloree Ambs (Adam LaRoe); mother, Cathy Ambs; mother-in-law, Juanita Shaw; siblings, Pam Ambs (Denny Aikins), Renne Foster, Pete (Sandra) Ambs and David (Sherry) Ambs; many adored nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; close cousin and buddy, Gerald Ambs "Jr"; good friends, David and Holly Phelps; many cousins, friends and co-workers.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Ambs Sr. in 1994; brother, Thomas E. Ambs Jr. "Otis" in 2011; and uncles, James Ambs and Gerald Ambs Sr.
At the age of 14, Mike started working for Jim Phelps at his service station on Page Avenue in Michigan Center and worked with the Phelps family ever since. He was a driver for Phelps Towing for over 40 years, working faithfully with Jim and David Phelps. His work ethic is something he took great pride in every day.
The most important thing in Mike's life was his family. He adored his daughter and enjoyed following her bowling career from youth to high school to college and beyond. Spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children was always a highlight in his day as well. In his spare time, he enjoyed euchre at the Three Horse Club with family and friends.
To honor Mike's life, visitation will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Cremation will follow the visitation period. For those who wish, contributions in Mike's memory may be given to his family.
