James Wesley Smith's Obituary
Age 95, lifelong resident of Liberty Township, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 under the loving care of his family and the wonderful staff at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home. Wes is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Marie E. (Oberlin); five daughters, Delores (Irving) Dentel, Roxana Conine, Laurie (Carl) Smelser, Pam (Paul) Wallace and Janelle (Jack Pedersen) Smith; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Frederick, Dorothy Kerr, Rose Ann Wittenberg Pelham, Ruth (Don) Davis and Carole Hartsuff; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Clarissa Smith and sisters, Frances Schafer and Margaret Johns. He was a lifelong farmer, worked and retired from Ford Motor Company with 31 years of service. He truly enjoyed life; time spent with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate his life will be held at the New Jerusalem Christian Fellowship Church, 14977 Harper Road, Cement City, MI 49233 (corner of US-127) on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Noon with Pastor Ned Bernstein officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 am and a luncheon will follow the services.
