Jim and I were friends in high school, and I remember him as a very pleasant and smart fellow. Unfortunately, I got out of contact with him when I moved away from Michigan. Jim was one of my closer friends in high school and college. I recall with great fondness working with Jim and Doug Zahn in the St Joseph Hospital surgical research lab. The three of us continually challenged each other in our efforts to develop our surgical skills. Jim was definitely smart and I learned a lot from him during our many conversations during that period of time.
