James "Jim" Yafai's Obituary
James “Jim” Yafai, 65, of Brooklyn, passed away October 15, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. His family and friends will gather on October 20, 2023 from 10:00AM- 12:00PM at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. His memorial service will follow at 12:00PM. Chaplain Troy Angel will officiate.
Jim was born on May 4, 1958, in Birmingham, England to Abdulla and Mary (McCartan) Yafai. He married the love of his life, Terri, on May 5, 2001, in Jackson, Michigan. They were happily married for 22 years and together, had 6 children. Jim was known by family and friends as a “tech guru”, he enjoyed fixing things and building with wood. He loved learning about new tech and helping others with their computer and tech problems. One of his favorite things was his large aquarium filled with lots of fish. Jim was a member of the Royal Air Force regimentb for 20 years- this is an elite special force in England. During this time he traveled to Belize, Germany, and the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. He worked at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson in Information Technology for 10 years and retired in 2021. Jim loved to make people laugh, he was a vibrant personality who was always the “life of the party”. His grand kids were very special to him. Jim’s family would like to thank Henry Ford Oncology and Henry Ford Hospice for their support and care through the last 4 years.
Jim will be missed by his wife Terri; his children, Adam (Danielle) Yafai, Yasmine (Graham) Houston, Jade Yafai, Elissa (Devlin Broughman) Yafai, and Travis (Marinna) Yafai; grandchildren, Bella, Alice, Agatha, Izzy, James, Joshua, Aiden, Atlas, Everett, and Charlotte; and his mother-in-law, Susan Edstrom. He is preceded in death by his daughter Alisa, his parents, and his son-in-law Graham Houston.
