Janet Moret Clifton's Obituary
Janet Moret Clifton, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025 after a lengthy illness. Janet was born on January 9, 1960 to Gordon and Ruth Moret in Trenton, Michigan. They moved to Brooklyn, Michigan in 1968 where Janet and her siblings attended Onsted Schools where Janet graduated in 1978.
Janet met Larry Clifton and they married in 2001 and lived on Devil’s Lake for a few years until moving back to Janet’s childhood home on Deep Lake. Janet and Larry owned Clifton Insurance Agency in Brooklyn, Michigan until they retired in 2019. In retirement, Janet enjoyed her dogs. At one point she was an active member of the Alaskan Malamute Rescue and had numerous friend who shared her passion for rescuing dogs and other animals. In her later years, Janet found a love for Pomeranians and owned many over the years – her friends in her “dog world” loved Janet for her dedication to her pets.
Janet lived life to the fullest. She was a loving wife, sister and friend who would go above and beyond to help her others. She loved playing cards, being on the lake, spending time with friends and taking random road trips whenever the mood struck. Although the last two years were very tough, Janet always found strength and gratitude to keep moving forward. As she said, “What can you do but to keep going?” Although Janet is gone, she will live on in our hearts.
She is survived by her brothers Louis (Sherry) Moret and Steven (Kim) Moret and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet is proceeded in death by her husband, Larry; parents, and brother Gordon Moret, Jr.
