Jean Linda Hetherington's Obituary
Jean Linda Hetherington, 87, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Jean’s family and friends will gather Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held Monday, August 25, 2025 at 11:00 am following her visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Rod Walker will officiate.
She was born on January 21, 1938, in Jackson, Michigan to Edgar and Catherine (Bretschneider) Benjamin. Jean married the late, Theodore Hetherington, on October 18, 1991 in Jackson, Michigan. They had 29 wonderful years together before his passing in 2021. She will be remembered for her love of all animals, especially her swans and chickens. Jean retired from Tenneco after 20 years of service as a designer. In her early years, Jean, sang and played tambourine in a country band, the Ho Down. She also sang in her father’s band. Jean was very proud to be the prettiest girl in the Miss Jackson competition in 1955. She was very talented in several areas; drawing, gardening, canning, cooking, baking and sewing. Holly Hobby dolls are her most famous items she created, giving many away to family and friends. She had a vast collection of Princess Diana dolls, little villages and plates. Jean cherished her time with her family, especially the holidays, cooking and decorating for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jean is survived by her children, Edward Bauer, Richard (Dawn) Bauer, Joan (John) Ponagai , Timothy (Linnae) Bauer, and Kelley Anderson; step sons, Mark Hetherington, Kirk (Rosie) Hetherington and Todd (Shelia) Hetherington; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Catherine; husband, Ted; grandson, Austin Bauer; 2 brothers, Billy and John, 4 sisters, Mary,
Teresa, Kate and Jane.
