Jesse Junior Chalfant's Obituary
Age 96, passed away in the presence of his family on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Lakeview Assisted Living Center in Battle Creek. Jesse is survived by two daughters, Linda C. Lindemon and Keri L. (Michael) Janssen; five grandchildren, Amber Lindemon, Lindsay, Rebecca, Julie and Caleb Janssen; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marion Chalfant, Jason (Diane) Chalfant and Ronald Chalfant, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Nora (Nelson) Chalfant; two sisters, Thelma Worden and Lois Molton; and four brothers, Robert, Lawrence, John and Cecil. He was a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine for 36 years with a practice in Michigan Center for 26 years. He served the nation as a member of the US Navy in World War II and later worked for Douglas Aircraft during the atomic bomb testing in Nevada and the hydrogen bomb testing at the Bikini Atoll. He belonged to the Long Beach California Lodge #327 Free and Accepted Masons and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Jackson. Graveside services will be held in the Oak Chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 1425 N. Elm Jackson, MI on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am. Military honors will be presented by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team.
