Jo Ann Hooper's Obituary
Jo Ann Hooper, 77, of Jerome, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Legacy Assisted Living, Jackson. Jo’s family and friends will gather Monday, July 21, 2025 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am following visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn Chapel, Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Dr. Kevin R. Caldwell of Grass Lake Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Napoleon, Michigan.
She was born on November 10, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to Cleveland and Ernestine (Turner)Hicks. Jo married James Hooper, on July 21, 1972 in Dearborn, Michigan. They had 41 wonderful years together until his passing in 2013. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile. Jo is a graduate of Edsel Ford High School; class of 1965 and she attended Henry Ford Community College. Jo also attended John Robert Powers modeling school. She was a professional photographer, specializing in family and baby portraits. This is where she met her late husband, Jim. Later, Jo was employed for Kohls, in the fine jewelry department. She was an amazing mother, and enjoyed camping with the family and was very active in the kids’ school activities. Jo had a beautiful singing voice that she shared in the school choir and church. She enjoyed sewing, making blankets and quilts, even presenting to the Second Lady, Tipper Gore a wreath that she made. Above all, Jo loved to shop. She cherished her time with her family and her dog, Max. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jo is survived by her loving daughters, Melissa Hartle and Kelley Harrington; and a sister, Linda Sultini. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Ernestine; her husband, Jim; and son, Frank.
