Age 78, of Leoni Township, passed away at her home Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was born in Jackson, Michigan on Friday, December 31, 1943 to the late John Wesley and Nadine Betty (maiden-Disley) Bartholomew Sr.
Jo is survived by her husband of 46 years, Richard John "Rick" Knechtges; three children, Vicki (Al) Barto, Kim Lowe (John Cochran) and Nicole (Raymond) Payne; nine grandchildren, Bobbie Jo (Jason) Kilpatrick, Richard (Kira) Barto and Brandy Ray (Nathan) Grove, Eva (Donny) Sunkle, Kayla (Tammy) Lowe, Cherokee, Jordan, Shyanna and JonRay Payne; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, John W. (Bev) Bartholomew Jr.; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Candace Lee Chatfield; grandson, Damian Koch; great-grandson, Alan Clifford Grove, Jr. and brother, Daryl Bartholomew.
Jo was very devoted to her loving family and also was a 'people person' who enjoyed her work with the public over the years. She was a fan of NASCAR and loved to go kayaking. She enjoyed all wildlife and animals with a special soft spot for hummingbirds.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration to honor her Life will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022, 1:00 pm at the Harmony Baptist Church (6475 Ann Arbor Road, Jackson, MI 49201) with Pastor Rod Walker officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until service time. Contributions in her memory are directed to the Cascades Humane Society.
