John 'Jack' Hathaway Blakely's Obituary
Blakely, John H. 'Jack"", age 85, of Leoni Township, passed away at Legacy Assisted Living Center February 22, 2014. He is survived by four children, Denise (Steven) Phelps, Donald Blakely, John Blakely and Michael (Deborah) Blakely, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, sister, Patricia Swain and sister-in-law, Barbara French. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, brother William, three brothers-in-law Jerry French, Eugene Sackreiter and Don Swain and his parents, William and Elizabeth Blakely. Jack served in the US Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees) late in World War Two and was recalled for the Korean War, was a member of the Rose City American Legion Post, worked for several local Asphalt Companies throughout his civilian career, loved to read and go camping. Mr. Blakely has been cremated. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at the funeral home Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Visitation one hour prior to service time. Military Honors will be offered by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Contributions in his memory are directed to the Alzheimers Association.
