John Harold Garbacz's Obituary
John Harold Garbacz, 78, of Manchester passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026. John’s family and friends will gather Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 4:00 pm -7:00 pm at Eineder Funeral Homes – Manchester Chapel. Burial with full military honors to be held Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 9:30 am at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
He was born on November 14, 1947, in Howell, Michigan, to Theodore and Norma (Phillips) Garbacz. He will be remembered for his love of his family. John proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the United States Armed Forces, receiving two purple hearts. He remained in contact and cherished his friendship with many platoon buddies and new friends through the VFW. John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1136 in Wyandotte, MI, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 127 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 259. He was a Firefighter for the city of Inkster for 14 years. John was an extremely intelligent, kind, generous man that had a great sense of humor, lived life and loved country music. He was also an avid outdoorsman, with hunting and fishing. John also had a passion for video games. He was a supportive father that cherished his time with his family, especially his daughters. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
John is survived by his loving daughters, Sherry (Ibrahim) Harb and Debra (Joseph) Stafiej; the mother of his children, companion and friend, Linda Garbacz; a sister, Linda Alred, and brother, Ronald (Lynn) Garbacz; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; a nephew, and four nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Norma.
