John "Junior" Surber's Obituary
Age 86, of Michigan Center, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Henry Ford Allegiance Health. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marilyn in 2005. John is survived by his daughter, ReaMel (Jeff) Cobe of Indian River; his special friend, Doris "Dorie" Swager and her two children, Steve (Evi) Swager and Pam (Lorren) Berkeypile; three sisters, Nancy Talbot, Elizabeth Chomic and Patty Fraizer; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was an Army Veteran, serving in Korea and was a journeyman millwright, retiring from Wyman-Gordon. Living on Center Lake for over 55 years, he and Marilyn enjoyed traveling and he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Junior was a member of the American Legion Rose City Post #324 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3634, 302 Fifth Street, Michigan Center, MI 49254 where a Memorial Service to honor his life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:30 am followed by a luncheon. His family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 am. Military Honors will be given by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory to the F.O.E. #3634 (Attn: Sue Lige) would be appreciated.
