John Adrian Schrader's Obituary
Age 70, died peacefully at his home in Blackman Township, Michigan, on Sunday, September 13, 2020. He was born on December 14,1949, in Manhattan, New York, to the late Adrian John and Rosemary (Maloney) Schrader. John is survived by his daughter, Dana R. Schrader; her mother; Marisa Paparelli Farhat; two sisters, Joan Schrader (and partner Susan Markovitz); Helen Schrader, and a niece and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Evelyn Schrader.
John served the nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He spent many years in various positions, including time as a Security Guard and Fire Safety Coordinator at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, NY; briefly as a Postal Carrier;and many years as a CDL Truck Driver for Roma's of Michigan, Scholastic Book Fairs, and A.D. Transport Express. He retired from his position as a Security Officer while living in Clearwater, Florida in 2016. In 2019, he relocated to Michigan to be closer to his daughter, Dana.
Dana attributes her love of books, traveling, and music to her late father. He was especially adept at singing karaoke on Saturday evenings, and historically held membership with VFW Post 9885 in Westland, MI, to which he attributed many fond memories. Even though he moved from New York to Michigan when Dana was born, he always retained his New York spirit and loved to laugh. His favorite Saturday night spot was the Dublin House Pub in Largo, FL. He loved a good beer and good company, so please raise one for him in his memory.
Mr. Schrader has been cremated and a public service will be held at a later date.
