Jose "Joe" Gonzales' Obituary
Age 76, of Michigan Center passed away at Henry Ford Allegiance Health on Sunday December 26, 2021. He was born to the late Jesse and Carmen (Ramirez) Gonzales in Cotulla, TX on October 5, 1945.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaylee (Robert) Rosecrants; grandchildren, Wyatt and LeAnne Rosecrants; sisters, Norma Evans and Erma (Lonnie) Draffen; nieces, Annette and Vicky Musky; nephews, Tim Musky, Eric (Megan) Evans and Darin Evans; as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesse Gonzales and great nephew, Benjamin Evans.
Early in life, Joe served in the U.S. Army and earned expert marksman. When he returned, he drove double-bottom tankers and then worked at Refrigeration Sales as a shop manager for years. When he retired he started "wheeling and dealing" as well as servicing everything with a small engine. In his free time, he would ride his Harley with many friends even making trips to Sturgis, worked on race cars of all types, helped coach soccer and loved roller skating on the weekends. Most recently, he turned his attention to his grandkids and showed them how to wash and clean their toys instilling lessons of taking care of everything we have. In the summer, he spent time at Jackson Speedway keeping up the grounds, track and helping young racers. Joe or "JoJo" as many called him will forever be Papa, Daddy and friend to all. He never wanted anything more than to take care of those who loved him and help others. Joe was a role model to many and a great man who will forever be missed.
Private interment was held at Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. Those who wish to make contributions in his memory are encouraged to donate to a fund for his grandchildren; Wyatt and LeAnne Rosecrants.
A time to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 1:30 pm at the Jackson Speedway, 3363 Page Avenue, Jackson, MI 49203.
