Joseph Nathaniel Tarrant, 95, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Mission Point of Jackson. Joe’s family and friends will gather from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. After services, the burial of cremated remains will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Jackson, MI.
Joe was born on December 25, 1928, in Harrisburg, Illinois to Robert and Zora (Partin) Tarrant. He married the love of his life, Louise Barnes, on November 13, 1945, in Jackson, Michigan. They had many wonderful years together until her passing. He will be remembered as a hard worker that enjoyed life. Joe attended Vandercook Lakes School, excelling in many areas. He was a self-taught craftsman and loved sharing his vast knowledge in helping his family and friends with projects. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying all the beauty Michigan had to offer. They had a cabin in northern Michigan, which they spent a great deal of time at, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, etc. He even went out west to hunt the big game of Elk. Joe was also a terrific bowler and golfer, being in several local leagues. He was employed at Walker Manufacturing for 29 years. After they closed, he became an independent contractor, building several homes in the area. Above all, Joe loved spending time with his family, gardening and, of course, playing his practical jokes on them. Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe will be missed by his daughter, Janet Hobbs; a brother Jim (Sheila) Tarrant; grandchildren, Sam Hobbs, Dawn (Kevin) Cates, Joey (Angela) Tarrant and Robin (Joey) Taylor; 6 great grandchildren, his companion of the last 25 years, Doris Cambic; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise; son-in-law Samuel L. Hobbs; children, Douglas Tarrant and Adelbert Tarrant; and eight brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Please leave a message of comfort for Joe’s family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
