Jospeh Howell Phillips' Obituary
Joseph Howell Phillips, 93, of Brooklyn, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at Henry Ford Allegiance Jackson Hospital. Joe’s family and friends will gather for a funeral service at Eineder Funeral Homes - Brooklyn Chapel. Pastor Greg Hobbs of Cornerstone Church will officiate. Interment at Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted, Michigan.
He was born on December 8, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to Vernor and Hetti (Wood) Phillips. Joe married the love of his life, Barbara Phillips on December 14, 1957, in Howell, Michigan. He was a private person that loved his grandchildren and enjoyed joking with them. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his enlistment was over, he found employment as a commercial electrician. He and Barbara also owned and operated the Dewey Lake Manor Bed and Breakfast for 25 years. Joe was a member of a Livonia Bowling League, winning many trophies, he also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. He loved to travel, taking many vacations with their close friends. Joe also cherished the time he spent returning home to the family farm in Tennessee. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara; his sons, Barry (Tandy) Phillips, Brian (Ronda) Phillips, and Brett (Christine) Phillips; a brother Garry (Betsey) Phillips; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jim, Buck and Clint; sisters Vernell, Laura May and Violet.
