Joy Gyurkovitz's Obituary
Joy Gyurkovitz (Emmajoy) Age 84, of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 under the loving care of her family and staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home. Her family wants to give the staff of Allegiance Hospice Home and the Jackson County Medical Care Facility a heartfelt thanks for all their loving care and support of our mom. We thank you for treating her with such dignity, which was so important for both her and her family. Joy was born on April 29, 1928, in Jackson, MI. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She always had extravagant meals and delicious cookies and pies on the table, beautiful flowers in the yard and a smile on her face. She was the most selfless woman with a compassionate and giving heart. She loved to spend time with her family, and her grandchildren had a special place in her heart. She had the ability to make everyone feel unique and special. Joy and her husband, Andy, enjoyed many years of retirement traveling the country in their motor home and were members of the Michigan Motor Wheels. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. in 1997, parents, Elsie Edith and Ray Truman Jacobs, two infant siblings, brother, Victor Jacobs and sister, Delilah (Roland) Sager. Joy is survived by her beloved children, Ann (Thomas) Gawlik, of Jackson, Sandra (Pete) Dalton, of Lakeville, MI, and Gerald (Carolyn) Gyurkovitz of Bullhead City, AZ; eight grandchildren, Brent, Andrew, Kristen, Matthew, Ryan, Lindi, Jason, Kailynne and Lisa; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Margie) Jacobs, Manley Jacobs, Dwight Jacobs, Merlin Jacobs, sisters-in-law, Rosie Jacobs, Ethel Lane, Joyce Campbell and Anna McBride; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11 AM with Pastor Jerry Bailey of Grace Church officiating. Interment Roseland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 PM. For those who wish, contributions in Joy's memory may be given to Allegiance Hospice Home or Michigan Parkinson's Foundation.
