Judith C. Stage's Obituary
Judith C. Stage, 87, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed on to be with her beloved angels on February 7, 2024. Judy was born in Jackson, Michigan, on November 13, 1936. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School with fond memories of being the homecoming queen as well as a cheerleader. Here is where she developed a love of sports – particularly her lifelong fandom of the Detroit Red Wings. After high school, Judy studied nursing, obtaining an associate degree from W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and going on to be an operating room nurse for over 40 years.
Judy was a strong believer in angels and the power of prayer. She spent a portion of every day reading from her prayer journal, which held the names of family members, friends, and people she had met. Judy’s belief in prayer brought her to work at Theresa’s Angels in Brooklyn, reinforcing her belief that angels are all around us.
Judy enjoyed watching nature, especially the birds and squirrels in her backyard that she was sure to feed every day. She also greatly enjoyed flowers – lilacs, daffodils, and yellow roses being her favorites. She loved to read, put together puzzles, and make latch hook rugs – often with the Red Wings game on the television. She always had a cat companion around her house in Brooklyn, her most recent being “PK.”
Preceding Judy in death were her parents, John and Nora Lapinski, brother, Robert Lapinski, and grandson, Korey Stage. Surviving are her children Pam (Shawn) DeMay, Lee (Margie) Stage, Wendy (Troy) Bland, Kirk (Theresa) Stage, Amy (Spanky) Gacon, and Shane (Julie Wilson) Stage; her sisters Alice Marie Dull and Mary Sue McCondra; her brothers Jack Lapinski and Jim (Jackie) Lapinski. She dearly loved her family and seeing her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Jackson County Medical Care Facility for their wonderful support for our mother/grandmother. We cannot express enough how much we appreciate the care they gave her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michigan Chapter of the Audubon Society or the Jackson Humane Society.
Per her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
