Keith R. "Dick" Smoyer's Obituary
Age 87, of Olcott Lake, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 44 years, Martha; four children, Connie Smoyer, Caroline Smoyer (Steven) of Toronto, John (Janet) Smoyer of Hanover and Rebecca (Quinn) Anthony of Colorado; six grandchildren, Donnie, Zack, Nathan, Gabby, Chad and Jena; great-granddaughter, Emery; two sisters-in-law, Lois and Joyce Smoyer; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lyle, Vaughn, Neil, Lud and Joyce. Dick was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School; then went on to serve 4 years with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Returning to Jackson, he worked as a supervisor for Goodyear Tire retiring with 29 years; after which he worked for John Ganton's Countryside Care for 10 years. Dick was a faithful member of the New Apostolic Church where he served as Rector for 10 years. He loved spending time with his family, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, trips to Switzerland and cruises. Dick's family would like to give special thanks to neighbors Barry Rudloff and Terry and Bev Carter who were always ready to give a helping hand when needed. Visitation will be held at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 361 E. Grove Ave., Michigan Center on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the church on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Ryan Tietsema officiating and Military Honors by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team. Cremation will follow the services.
