Kenneth was born on August 5, 1964 to William Merriman and Joyce (Wright) Merriman. Ken was a happy go lucky guy. He brought a lot of joy to the homes where he resided. He especially liked the time he lived at St. Louis Center in Chelsea and Allegra Nursing Home in Jackson.
He was raised on a small farm in Manchester as the youngest of eight children. He loved riding his bike, being around animals, especially the dogs and really he enjoyed teasing his siblings. He always made friends easily and wanted to be around people. Ken graduated from High Point in Ann Arbor, a school for children who were intellectually and developmentally disabled. Some of the things he enjoyed doing included playing basketball, making crafts and racing with his wheelchair.
He always thought of his caregivers and residents as family and they felt the same way. He found enjoyment in listening and joining in singing with those who brought music to his home. One of his favorite pastimes was playing bingo and winning even if it meant he had more numbers covered than had been called. Ken collected musical greeting cards and dancing/animated stuffed creatures. (He loved to show them off.) One of his secrets which he often shared with others was his hidden bug-in-a-pouch or box. Playing Go Fish and Tic Tac Toe became a pastime Ken was quite competitive in. Somehow he always came out the winner. He had a strong belief in his faith and had many priest friends; among his other numerous friendships.
His Dad, William Merriman and brother Christopher Merriman preceded him in death. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Joyce Merriman; siblings, Beth (Robert) Padley; George (Pat) Merriman; Marty (Sandy) Merriman; Karen (Joel) Tobias; Brian (Jill) Merriman; Brenda Merriman (Mark Conley); Aunts; Sue Kent, Mary Ellen Freeman and Anne Wright; twenty nieces and nephews; and even more great nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Louis Center or Easter Seals or given to family for future designation. Please leave a message of comfort for Kenneth family or sign his guestbook at www.EinederFuneralHomes.com.
