Kenneth Lee Westra's Obituary
Age 83, of Michigan Center, passed away Sunday August 21, 2022 at McLaren Hospital, Flint. Kenny was born in Jackson, Michigan on Saturday, October 15, 1938 to the late Herbert and Doretha (Hall) Westra. He is survived by two sisters; Kathleen (Westra) Olson of Mason and Maurita (Westra) Lohrer and her husband Gaylord, many nieces and nephews, his best friend Louie Schippers and his other good friends from the area. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law; Charles O. Olson. He grew up in Michigan Center and graduated from Michigan Center High School with the Class of 1957. He was a full time member of the Leoni Township Fire Department for 21 years working as their radio dispatcher. Kenny enjoyed country music, old cars, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bowling, camping, snowmobiling and loved to hear a good joke. He treasured his time spent at Kimmie K's restaurant in Michigan Center, visiting with folks. Kenny always had a smile on his face. In his later years he resided at the Divine Nest Assisted Living in Leslie and his family wants to express sincere gratitude for their compassionate care. Services will be held at Arthur-Day Funeral Home Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11 am with Pastor Larry Rubingh officiating. Interment Roseland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, 6-8 pm.
