Kevin William O'Leary's Obituary
Age 70, of Ackerson Lake, passed away peacefully at his home October 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years; Diane M. (maiden-Shaw) O'Leary, two children; Shannon (Keith) Lefebvre and Sean 'Red' (Liz) O'Leary, grandson; Koa Lefebvre, two brothers; Steve (Anne Marie) O'Leary and Brian O'Leary, step-mom; Eileen O'Leary, and his mother-in-law; Mary Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; Laurence B. and Nancy C. (maiden-Fraser) O'Leary and his father-in-law; Red Shaw. Kevin was born in Jackson, Michigan and then spent his childhood in Portland and Grosse Ile, Michigan. In 1971 he entered the apprenticeship program for machine repair at Melling Tool Co. where he worked in many different roles, advancing to General Manager of Melling Industries by his retirement in 2010. He exhibited great devotion to his true love, Diane. Kevin shared his love of the outdoors with his family and friends. He was always up for the adventure of a road trip to the Upper Peninsula, especially enjoying trips hunting rocks with his daughter Shannon and exploring with his son Sean. He had a witty sense of humor and a reputation for being the wisest man in the room; he could do anything and do it well. He treasured his grandson, Koa, enjoying the hours teaching and playing chess with him. He was an old car buff, a gifted woodworker, and was the revered Captain and helmsmen of his boat, "The Victory". Steady as she goes; Kevin was a blessing to all who knew him. His desire was to be cremated. A celebration to honor his eventful and full life will be held Saturday, October 19th, 2019 at noon at the Jackson County Outdoors Club (3550 Hart Road). Contributions in his memory are directed to the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice.
