Kevin Lee Stark's Obituary
Age 59 of Michigan Center passed away suddenly at his home on September 7, 2019. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kim and three daughters, Hannah, Emma and Lindsey. Kevin was born April 18, 1960 to Gerald and Juanita (Baumgartner) Stark in Detroit, MI. A third-generation Ironworker, Kevin was a member of Local 25 until his retirement. He enjoyed working with his hands and even made several pieces of furniture and a swing set for his girls. From a young age, Kevin was captivated by music, often reminiscing about the times he hitchhiked to Pine Knob (much to the dismay of his parents). He preferred music in its live form and attended hundreds of concerts over the years, most recently a Father's Day gift to see Willie Nelson. Kevin was an avid supporter of NASCAR and began attending races at MIS in 1982. A few years later, his wife began to join him and they frequently traveled to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. It became a family affair when he bought an old school bus and converted it into a motorhome so the family could watch the races from the infield campground. A lover of nature and all things outdoors, Kevin enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing. He had an affinity for animals and had many pets over the years, once bringing home a baby skunk. He especially enjoyed watching and feeding the birds, squirrels, deer and even ducks that passed through the backyard. Kevin was also a die-hard Michigan fan, who loved attending football, basketball and hockey games with his family. Things came full circle when he was able to attend his oldest daughter's college graduation in the Big House. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerry and Nita. Kevin has been cremated at his request. There will be no visitation or service also at his request. Contributions in his memory can be directed to his family for their needs and wishes.
