Kris E. Shenefield, 67, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Kris’ family and friends will gather from 10:00a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. A procession to Roseland Memorial Gardens immediately following. Pastor Matt Plott will serve as celebrant. The family requests you wear either Detroit or University of Michigan team gear.
He was born on July 17, 1958, in Jackson, Michigan, to Donald Ward and Doris Elaine (Hopkins) Shenefield. Kris attended Michigan Center schools and graduated in 1976. After graduation he joined and proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Kris will be remembered most for his deep devotion to his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. Known affectionately to many as “Popps,” he rarely missed an opportunity to attend their games, performances, and special moments. Being present in their lives brought him his greatest joy and pride. He was an avid sports fan who never wavered in his loyalty to Detroit teams and University of Michigan athletics. Whether cheering from the stands or from home, Kris found happiness in the camaraderie and excitement of the games he loved. Above all, Kris will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for family, and the countless memories he created with those closest to him. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Kris will be deeply missed by his children, Jessica (Zach) Kanaan, Kristopher (Jenn) Shenefield, Mike (Jenny) Browning, Samantha Browning; grandchildren, Ty and Tobin McCrum, Ryaleigh Piper, Kavin Shenefield, Jayla and Makailyn Browning; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris Shenefield; brother, Rick Shenefield; and Rhonda Browning.
